Procrastinators Rarely Prosper

Procrastinators Rarely Prosper

Before you read this post, I want your commitment that afterwords you will go do whatever task it is that you are procrastinating on the most.

Deal?

I know it is only 10, 20, or 30 minutes here or there, but all this time that you spend surfing, gaming, or watching TV adds up to a huge time suck. One thing that many of the most successful people have in common is that they simply do not procrastinate (much) doing passive things. Instead, they use the 2.8 hours a day that they save by not watching television to learn, create, or build their ideas. Imagine what you could accomplish with 2.8 extra hours a day dedicated to building your dreams, especially if you need to keep your day job until your dream starts to pay the bills.

I know that it is not easy to unplug the TV.  I know that it is hard to avoid checking the latest football scores.  But if you want to win, you need to keep your passive recreation to a minimum.  It is too easy to tune out the real world and get lost in things that are more fun.  It is an escape that you cannot afford if you have serious goals.  To be at the top of your game, you need to know when it is time to work, and to do all of the work that is required.

Now remember your promise, go get started on something that has been on your to do list for way too long.

For me, the hardest thing to unplug is the internet. I wish it weren’t so addictive. It’s so easy to waste hours when you should be working.
